SitePoint Marketplace

Tags: • March 21, 2008. Written by Igor.

The other day SitePoint announced the whole new marketplace, but I’m not sure if I see any difference.

Apparently one of the main features is that auctions and bids are now legally binding, whatever that means. I still think that SP should put a lot more effort in fighting the scammers. From the design aspect, the marketplace looks the same, except some minor changes.

Although I can’t see any major improvements, SitePoint is still the best place to buy/sell your websites, templates … Just be careful about what you are buying and from whom.

The biggest improvement in the new marketplace is the eBay style 2-way feedback system & seller profile pages. This will discourage a lot of scammers, and will make it a lot easier to research someones history.

Watch more more improvements an an ongoing basis, including an identity verification system, easier re-listing for unsold websites, improved tracking of auctions you’re bidding on, and a “hide from search engines” upgrade for auction holders who desire more privacy.

Cheers,
Matt.

Haven’t really expected a comment from SitePoint founder. Thanks Matt for info and stopping by.

Seller profile is a neat feature although it looks kinda skinny. It would be good if we could flag a seller, or leave a comment on seller profile page.

I’m looking forward to the new improvements. Hope we would not have to wait long.

Thx.
